Sometimes we pass near a store that we wish to visit and make a purchase in, but forget about it in the moment. Then later, back home, we notice that we miss, say, an ingredient for our meal and have to go back to the store, which is now out of our way. This then causes us to lose more time. Am I Close is designed to avoid this problem and help you waste less time because of forgetfulness.

Any time you think of something you need to buy, you can enter a reminder in Am I Close. You enter the shop you can buy your ingredient as well as a list of purchases you wish to make.

Now, if you happen to be passing near the store you wanted to visit, the app will alert you by issuing a sound notification. You will be able see which shops are nearby in the app and decide whether you want to visit the shop now and pick up your items or just leave the shopping for another time.

In case you prefer to leave your shopping for later, you can either ignore the reminder or snooze it for a period of time. During the period of snooze, your app will not alert you when you are near the snoozed shop. Once the snooze period expires, the app will once again issue a sound reminder whenever you are nearby a close shop. You can also interrupt the snooze at any time by pressing play next to the snoozed reminder in the Snoozed Reminders tab view.

You can always edit the locations and the item list if you remember something new you wish to purchase, or if you realize you already possess something from the list.

The number of reminders and the shop locations you can enter is unlimited. Whenever possible, the app uses iPhone region monitoring feature which saves your device’s battery life. The region monitoring monitors the regions around the shop locations and issues notifications when you enter or exit a region. Only when it is not possible to perform timely alerting using this feature will the app start to monitor your location more regularly. This is necessary if you enter reminders with many (over 20) nearby locations. If you are using up to 20 locations or even more than 20 locations that are not too close to you, the app will use the lower energy intensive region monitoring.

The app was built to be intuitive, but if you want a step by step guide in how to use it, just click on the question mark in the lower right corner of the screen in Reminders tab. It will open up an app tutorial for you to follow.

A detailed tutorial for the snooze feature can be accessed by pressing the question mark in the lower right corner of the Snoozed Reminders tab.
